For years and years the first thing people think of when they think about losing weight or controlling their weight is ,”what should I eat”. Also, not just what they eat, but how much they eat. The conclusion that so many come to is that they are eating too much, when this might not be the case at all. Here are a few tips that may help you begin to lose weight and for some it could be the small piece they were missing in their diets.

The single most important thing…

When you exercise on a regular basis you can not only jump start your metabolism but get it fired up and continue to work long after you workout is over. What you feed your body after a workout is possibly the fuel that can make or break your attempt to lose weight and even more so lose fat.

Everyone wants that six pack when they look in the mirror and like I said exercise is important but in the words of Complete Fitness Results, Dave Wilton, “abs aren’t built in the gym, they are built in the kitchen.”

Yes, you still have to drink water…

What you put into your body will ultimately show on the outside of your body. First, drink your water. Why? Each one of us is made up of water, 75% in fact!

Water is the gasoline that fuels these Ferrari bodies we have! Without staying hydrated you will begin to see decreases in performance in not only your workouts but in daily life in general. Your metabolism needs water to keep it running and burning fat.

Smart Group Training, next up, group water drinking?! Ok, ok, never mind…

Do this TODAY to begin your road to weight loss…

One thing that seems to help most people that I personally have worked with has been to keep a food log. Most of the time we talk about taking a “3 day snapshot” of your food intake. If you can keep it every day then great but usually 3 days will give you a pretty good idea of what you are eating. You’d be surprised the impact of writing “half a tube of Pringles” down in your food log…

You wrote it down, now what?

  • Shoot for 5-6 smaller meals per day, not 3 big ones
  • Eat plants to control hunger and add vital nutrients to your body
  • DRINK MORE WATER (take half your body weight and drink that in ounces)

It’s easier than you think, you can do it!

When it comes to controlling weight gain I guess there are only two questions…

  1. What kind of exercise are you doing?
  2. How much do you eat and what types of food is it?

Adding certain tools and certain habits, much like the ones I’ve mentioned above, can help just about anyone reach fat loss goals. The physique that everyone wants cannot be made solely in the gym. Again, feeding your body is what allows your body to work at it’s highest capacity in order to get the results we want.
